Scuba Diving
Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Under
the crystal clear waters, visitors will find one of the most beautiful
coral reefs in the world with an impressive array of tropical fish darting
about, including marine turtles and sting rays. The water temperature
(78-85 F, 25-30 C) and clarity (with a visibility of 20 to 40 meters),
allow for scuba diving all year round. The depth of the dives is usually
between 10 and 30 meters and, because of the presence of ocean currents
in the Yucatan channel, each dive is done by the technique of drift diving.
Playa del Carmen is becoming a worldwide well-known diving destination
because of the impressive tropical fish concentration surrounding the
wonderful coral reefs. Besides meeting with turtles, sting and spotted
eagle rays, green and spotted morays, nurse sharks are very common.
Tank-Ha Dive Center has scheduled dives from Playa del Carmen every day,
weather permitting. Should rough weather close
the port in Playa del Carmen, divers can try freshwater cenote cavern
diving anytime and enjoy a diving experience unique to the Yucatan.
